Jewel River is a one-of-a-kind math game that teaches preschoolers and kindergartners how to instantly recognize quantities of objects without counting. Known as "subitizing," this skill is an important part of early childhood learning, and is an idea taught by the popular Montessori system.

What makes Jewel River unique is its additional 2-player mode which encourages kids to cooperate and is also a great way for parents to get involved with what their children are learning.

WHAT DOES JEWEL RIVER TEACH?
Developed from research-based learning principles, Jewel River strengthens number sense by helping your child go beyond the sing-song of “One, two, three, four, five...” to understanding actual quantities, an important foundation for later stage math learning.

HOW DOES THE GAME WORK?
Children are instructed to gather jewels to build houses. They are briefly shown clusters of 3, 4, or 5 jewels and must drag that many jewels from the river. As the game progresses, the arrangements of the clusters become trickier, challenging your child to remember how many jewels they need to collect. Each house built is part of a larger neighborhood. Completing the entire neighborhood is a significant challenge that will keep your child engaged over numerous app playtimes.

WHO CREATED JEWEL RIVER?
Jewel River was developed by the makers of the KinderTown educational app store to fill a critical gap in the educational app marketplace. To find other educational apps for kids 3-6 years old, check out the KinderTown app on iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kindertown/id463524703?mt=8
